Requirements and qualifications
To be considered suitable for the Finance Internship position at JKIT, candidates should possess a solid academic and professional foundation along with strong analytical and personal skills. The ideal candidate profile includes:
* Educational Qualifications: An undergraduate degree or graduate qualification in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a closely related business discipline from a recognized university or institute.
* Professional Qualifications: Being currently enrolled in or having partial qualifications in professional accountancy bodies such as CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants), CA Sri Lanka (Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka), or ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) will be considered a significant added advantage.
* Independent Work Ethic: Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage assigned operational tasks efficiently, and deliver precise results with minimal supervision.
* Soft Skills: Excellent interpersonal and relationship-management skills, keen attention to detail, and top-tier organizational and time management capabilities.
* Language Proficiency: Complete fluency in both written and spoken English, as routine communication and documentation will be conducted in English.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
During the internship period, the Intern – Finance will handle crucial operational tasks and support the broader finance department in everyday corporate accounting functions. The core duties include:
* Managing and handling petty cash disbursements while ensuring complete accuracy in record-keeping and reconciliation.
* Assisting in day-to-day corporate finance and routine accounting activities.
* Supporting the team in handling tax-related computations, filings, and regulatory compliance matters.
* Preparing routine and ad-hoc financial reports, statements, and management summaries.
* Assisting in coordinating and managing both internal and external audit queries by compiling necessary financial records.
* Executing day-to-day banking activities, reconciliations, and routine financial documentation processes.
