Key Responsibilities & Job Duties
As a Finance Executive at Baraka, your daily responsibilities will cover various critical aspects of accounting and corporate finance operations, including:
1. Accounts Payable & Receivable (AP/AR)
* Process AP invoices accurately and manage import bookings alongside advance clearances.
* Record and maintain customer claims, credit notes, and perform regular AP/AR reconciliations.
2. Export & Import Operations
* Create export sales orders and invoices while carefully monitoring customs declarations.
* Coordinate crucial export documentation, logistics, and prepare detailed export and cash receipt reports.
3. Foreign Currency & Trade Finance
* Actively monitor foreign receivables and payables aging schedules.
* Perform currency revaluations, manage reversals, and prepare detailed customer statements.
4. Inventory & Cost Control
* Process inventory write-offs, provisions, and official goods issues.
* Prepare comprehensive inventory reconciliations and raw material/goods consumption reports.
5. Reporting & Month-End Processes
* Prepare incentive reports, open Purchase Order (PO) tracking, BOI compliance reports, and Year-To-Date (YTD) sales reports.
* Handle month-end provisions, accruals, reversals, and General Ledger (GL) reconciliations.
6. SAP Master Data & System Administration
* Maintain updated customer, supplier, item, asset, and GL master data inside the enterprise system.
* Upload current exchange rates and support Bill of Materials (BOM), pricing, and item revaluation workflows.
Requirements and Qualifications
To be successful in securing the Finance Executive position at Baraka, applicants should meet the following minimum qualifications and skills:
* Educational Background: A Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, or a related field from a recognized university or professional body (such as CA Sri Lanka, ACCA, or CIMA).
* Work Experience: 1 to 3 years of hands-on experience working in a Finance, Accounting, or similar corporate role.
* Domain Knowledge: Direct experience in export/import accounting and foreign trade finance will be considered a distinct advantage.
* Technical Proficiency: Hands-on practical experience using 'SAP ERP' systems is highly preferred.
* Software Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Excel (advanced formulas, data management) and general MS Office applications.
* Core Competencies: Strong practical knowledge of core accounting concepts, bank/ledger reconciliations, and month-end financial closing procedures.
* Soft Skills: Exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical capabilities, effective communication skills, and the ability to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines.
