Job Details

As a Credit Officer at Pan Asia Bank, your daily routine will involve an intensive mix of financial evaluation, risk monitoring, customer relationship management, and strict regulatory compliance. You will report through the branch credit management pipeline to ensure portfolio goals are met swiftly.

Your core operational tasks, duties, and responsibilities will include:

1. SME Credit and Target Achievement:

* Gain substantial exposure to handling Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) Credit within your assigned branch facility.

* Work passionately to achieve the specific, pre-determined organizational branch targets regarding financial Advances.

* Manage portfolio quality parameters strictly to minimize Non-Performing Assets (NPAs) and maximize Interest Income from Services (IIS).

2. Loan Evaluation and Proposal Formulation:

* Thoroughly evaluate incoming loan applications, analyzing credit worthiness, repayment capacities, and financial statements.

* Prepare comprehensive, highly detailed credit proposals backed by all necessary supporting attachments and information.

* Submit finalized proposals to the designated approving authority swiftly and efficiently to ensure low turnaround times.

3. Disbursement Supervision and Tariff Compliance:

* Ensure that loan disbursements are executed only upon the absolute completion of all necessary security documentation and legal verification.

* Monitor disbursements that occur in structural stages, verifying that field milestones are met before releasing funds.

* Review facility parameters to guarantee that interest rates and administrative fees are charged accurately as per the official bank tariff.

4. Guarantees and Correspondence Management:

* Oversee the proper issuance of banking guarantees, holding the applicable margins, managing timely renewals, cancellations, and reversals.

* Carry out structured, rigorous follow-ups on expired guarantees to mitigate any pending legal or financial liabilities for the bank.

* Ensure balancing, submit necessary monthly financial statements, and maintain proper, meticulous archives of all official credit correspondence.

5. Site Visits and Watch List Management:

* Carry out regular physical site visits to clients' business locations to verify operational stability and assess collateral conditions.

* Ensure proper, continuous post-credit follow-ups, remaining highly vigilant to react immediately to early warning signs of default.

* Take direct responsibility for managing the branch Watch List and NPA portfolios, including calling and personally visiting overdue clients to arrange recovery solutions.

6. Audits and Physical Verifications:

* Carry out periodic, meticulous physical verifications of pawned articles and other physical assets held under bank custody.

* Maintain exceptional operational standards within the department to ensure a low (excellent) audit rating on credit operations during internal and external reviews.

Requirements and Qualifications

To be considered eligible for this critical risk-management position, candidates must demonstrate a strong baseline of formal banking education, solid practical experience within a licensed commercial bank, and sharp business acumen.

Academic Credentials and Professional Prerequisites:

* Professional Education: Possess a full or part qualification in Banking from the Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka (IBSL).

* Added Advantage: Holding a formal Diploma in Credit Management from a recognized institutional body will be treated as a highly distinct advantage during selection.

* Working Experience: A minimum of 4 to 5 years of solid working experience preferably within a commercial banking environment is required. Out of this total tenure, you must possess at least 2 to 3 years of direct exposure operating specifically in a dedicated credit role.

* Credit Knowledge: A deep, functional knowledge of contemporary credit procedures, lending frameworks, security valuations, and central regulatory requirements.
